The solid one-piece couplings are machined to lock in place thereby transmitting all torque loads equally throughout the foil column. No torque loads are transmitted to the set screws. The close tolerances assure the alignment of the luff grooves.

Optimum strength to weight ratios:

Manufactured from an alloy chosen for its high strength, PROFURL extrusions have the best strength to weight ratio available. Their shape, technically designed for uniform rigidity and optimum aerodynamic performance, is the best for even, smooth rotation. Asymmetrical luff grooves reduce sail luff chafe. The grooves positioning on the foil was technically determined to maximize performance on either tack.

A specially designed stainless steel feeder allows even singlehanded sailors to raise sails easily. Once the sail is hoisted the feeder can be instantly removed without tools to eliminate sail chafe when reefed.

The PROFURL drum is formed of an unbreakable, unscratchable, UV resistant high impact plastic. It is open for easy furling line inspection. Its slippery surface and patented conical flanges minimize any jamming potential. The strong stainless arms guard to keep the furling line on the drum should the line be slackened during sail deployment.

DRUM MECHANISM Non corrodable, no maintenance and optimum power:

Hardened carbon steel bearings (100C6) are non-corrodable because they are permanently housed in a grease bath by special double lip seals which insure water tightness to a depth of more than 5 meters.
This technology guarantees maintenance free operation under extreme loads.

The drum mechanism is designed in a shape which will not chafe dock, mooring or anchor lines or running rigging.
