About Velocitek

Velocitek, LLC was founded in Dan Kaseler's Raptor design loft, in Port Angeles, Washington. Dan Kaseler was the designer of the sail used by Finian Maynard to break the absolute world speed sailing record in April. An Aerospace Engineer consulted heavily with Dan Kaseler to design the S3.

Velocitek is now located in Paia, HI. Our strategic location on the island of Maui allows the constant testing and refinement of our products in extreme conditions. Velocitek engineers can come up with a new concept in the morning and have professional athletes testing it in the afternoon. Velocitek's mission is to provide useful, easy to use, high-tech training tools for windsport athletes.

Velocitek SC-1 GPS Heading and Speed

velocitek sc-1 gps race computer The Velocitek SC-1 is an extremely powerful sail training tool that combines a 100% waterproof high-accuracy GPS Speedometer/VMG Sensor with a Compass, Timer, and 40 hour GPS data logger.

The Velocitek SC-1 harnesses the power of GPS to give you the functionality of a complete instrument suite in a self-contained device that can be mounted anywhere on your boat. The SC-1 installs in seconds and does not require any external wiring or through hull transducers.

In addition to providing real-time speed, heading and VMG information, the SC-1 also stores and organizes speed, heading, position, and time records for your most recent 40 hours of sailing. When you're racing away from home, bring your Velocitek SC-1 with you and you will be able to capture a complete record of your performance on each day of the event. When you get home you will be able to easily download the automatically sorted tracks for replay and analysis on your PC.

The Velocitek SC-1 GPS Race Computer is designed to work seamlessly with both Google Earth and GPS Action Replay to allow you to easily download, view and analyze the GPS data recorded while you were on the water.

Velocitek SpeedPlay

This software is designed from the ground-up to make the whole process of downloading data from a group of GPS devices, formatting the data into a race replay and then watching the replay as fast and pain free as possible. Velocitek SpeedPlay is fully integrated with Velocitek GPS devices to make the process of getting GPS data off a group of GPS devices and formatted into a replay as fast and convenient as possible. SpeedPlay allows users to download GPS data from up to 21 Velocitek GPS devices in one batch using USB hubs. Once the data has been downloaded race start and end times can be specified with a single mouse click and marks can be added using a convenient drag and drop interface.

As an added bonus, when connected to the internet, detailed, accurate map backgrounds are automatically imported into race replays from Microsoft Virtual Earth, providing an interested geographical context for any event.

Velocitek SpeedPuck

The SpeedPuck combines a high-accuracy GPS speedometer, compass and bar graph wind shift indicator in a compact, durable package. It is designed to be mounted on a dinghy or handheld when hiking on a sportboat. The SpeedPuck improves your sailing by allowing you to quantify the effects of boat trim, sail trim, wind shifts and current. No more second guessing yourself!

Main Display Modes

- Speedometer: Displays speed, updated at 2Hz.
- Compass: Displays heading / course over ground, updated at 2Hz.
- Maximum Speed: Displays maximum speed attained since the device was turned on.

Bar Graph Lift / Header Indicator

- Automatically locks on to your tack angle
- Bar graph shows lifts and headers in three degree increments
- Automatically resets when you tack or jibe
- Can be disabled if prohibited by class rules

The SpeedPuck is designed for long-term reliability in a saltwater marine environment. The SpeedPuck's caseback screws on and off like the lid of a leak-proof water bottle to reveal the battery compartment. In addition to this, the battery compartment is completely sealed off from the rest of the device's electronics, providing a second layer of protection against moisture.
