About Harken Mainsail Handling Systems:
Tame your main with a Harken® Battcar traveler system. These low-friction assemblies feature recirculating ball bearing cars to allow quick hoists and reefs on all points of sail. Most importantly, the main douses instantly from the safety of the cockpit.
Harken Furling Mainsail Outhaul Block: Use furling outhaul cars with in-mast or behind-the-mast furlers on boats to 45 ft (13.5 m). Sheave carriers pivot side-to-side to accommodate changing lead angles. Systems have 2:1 purchases and ride on cars with Torlon® ball bearings. A dead-end outhaul shackle is included.
The 1615 Midrange car has an axle-bearing sheave. Use on boats with mainsails to 300 ft2 (28 m2). The sheave on the 595 Big Boat car uses Torlon® rollers. Use on boats with mainsails to 425 ft2 (40 m2).
Harken Lazy Jacks: Lazy Jacks contain mainsails while reefing and dousing. They work extremely well with full-battened mains, but are also used with conventional sails.
Harken Boom Vangs: The vangs allows vertical adjustment of the boom, and is an extremely important tool to shape the main for speed. Tension the vang to tighten the leech, flatten the sail and bend the mast. Cruisers use the vang to keep the boom from rising when sailing downwind and abraiding the main.
