About Harken Travelers
Details Make the Difference: Harken Travelers have stood the test of time. For over 35 years, these strong, light and exceptionally free-rolling blocks have provided both racers and cruisers dependably correct hardware for every trimming task.
Harken Small Boat Captive Ball Traveler Cars are used on large dinghies, keelboats, beach cats and offshore boats to 27 ft (8m). The one-piece solid aluminum construction is lightweight and strong. Ball bearings run on machined aluminum Hardkote-anodized races for smooth trimming and easing. Stainless steel wire guides keep the balls captive when the car is off the track.
Cars with a 500 lb (227kg) safe working load use Delrin® balls. Cars with a higher safe working load use high-strength Torlon® balls. Ti-Lite cars matched with Ti-Lite blocks provide the ultimate, lightweight, low-profile system. High-tech line replaces shackles and spring.
Harken Midrange Captive Ball Traveler Cars are built to handle high loads on boats from 27 ft to 34 ft ( 8 to 10 m). The one-piece solid aluminum construction is light weight and strong. Machined aluminum Hardkote- anodized races permit Torlon® bearings to transition smoothly from the active to return race for smooth trimming and easing. Stainless steel wire guides keep the ball captive when the car is off the track.
Pivoting shackle/toggle cars have low pivot points to handle non vertical loads. Blocks attach directly to the toggle for a low-profile, compact system. The toggle serves as a stand-up for the mainsheet block.
Harken Big Boat Captive Ball Traveler Cars are built to handle high loads on boats from 32 to 50 ft (9.5 to 15 m) and up to 70 ft (21 m) with coupled cars.

Harken Windward Sheeting CB Cars Sail once with the windward sheeting traveler car and you'll never sail without one. Pull the car above the centerline without releasing the leeward control line. Track and the car stays in the same position, ready to be pulled to the new windward side.
Cars are one-piece solid aluminum construction with captive balls. Mount track in the cockpit or near deck level. For dinghies to large offshore boats.

Lewmar Racing Cars: The Racing Car range has been optimized for strength to weight ratio whilst remaining race legal. Styled to match the Racing Block range, utilizing robust monocoque car bodies machined from solid, giving the very best possible car travel under full load, in the harshest of marine environments.
Tracks: Drilled track is commonly used and particularly useful where through deck fixing is not possible. Sliding bolt track has a smooth, clean profile, with no visible fixings and the ability to retro-fit new track to the deck using original bolt holes. Beam track is used when spanning cockpits and across companion way hatches. There is a track for your Lewmar genoa car, traveler or mainsheet system.
Schaefer Travelers:
While most mainsail working loads are fairly predictable, it is easy to overlook "shock" loads that may be experienced by a traveler system.
The Toughest Car on the Track
Jibing, for example can produce shock or impact loads well beyond normal sailing loads, as can the flogging of the boom and mainsail during reefing.
All three sizes of Schaefer Traveler track are extruded from thick walled aluminum. This allows the track to maintain dimensional stability and structural integrity better than thinner designs even when subjected to bending, twisting or compound curves. Each traveler track section is black hardcoat anodized for maximum corrosion resistance and is treated with a Teflon impregnation to extend the life of the coating while reducing friction on the track surface.

Each Schaefer traveler car contains separate "wheels" that hold "captive" stainless steel ball bearings. This captive wheel design with full radius races distributes bearing loads evenly to a greater surface contact area than other plastic bearing designs to ensure smooth running. They also allow you to remove the car for inspection without the loss of bearings. Each one is hardcoat anodized for durability.
Control blocks use Schaefer's Delrin ball bearing sheaves and some use Sure Grip Cam cleats for ultimate control. Schaefer traveler systems provide you with several combinations to give you the purchase needed to tame your mainsail.
Choose from numerous adapters allowing your Schaefer blocks to plug in to your sailboat traveler car. Cap off the track with endstops made from UV treated Urethane to take the shock loads possible from your system.
