
1. Determine unit based on wire or rod, and clevis pin diameter. Typical boat lengths are listed as a guideline but are not the determining factor. Check with Harken if your length varies.
2. Measure headstay from center of pin holding headstay to masthead toggle (A), to center of pin holding headstay to chainplate (B) to determine if extra foil and connector are required.
3. Choose terminal required. Headstay terminal sold separately.
- Swage fitting must be installed by rigger with special equipment. Sta-Lok or Norseman can be installed without special equipment.
- Rod headstay use a special adaptor fitting and must be cut and coldheaded by an authorized rod service center.
4. Choose accessories to complete system.
5. Sail modifications: Ask your sailmaker to add #6 (6/32" or 5 mm) luff tape to your genoa. Units 4 and 4.5 can also use #7, (7/32" or 6 mm) luff tape. Carbon furling units accept only #6 (6/32" or 5 mm) luff tape. Consider a leech cover to protect sail from UV rays when it's furled.
