Autopilot Systems
Autopilot Systems
A sailboat Autopilot is an electric or hydraulic device which holds the vessel on course in place of a person at the helm.
Choice will depend on vessel size, displacement and maximum speed, which help determine the autopilot's required power. Steering type and mechanism (tiller, wheel, hydraulic, cable, etc.) will also influence selection.
Autopilot operation is simple, put the vessel on the desired heading, hold the course for a few seconds, press AUTO and release the helm. The autopilot will lock the course in memory and will respond with helm corrections to keep your boat on this course.
B&G Marine Navigation Autopilots give reliable control of your boat in the toughest conditions. B&G Autopilots have steered the world's top helmsmen to victory in every one of the world's oceans and now our racing heritage is available to the cruising sailor and club racer in our Triton2 sailing autopilot range.
Garmin Marine Autopilots Gateways allows the GHP™ 10V autopilot system to steer the boat through the Volvo steering system. Using a proprietary Volvo connector, the autopilot gateway connects to the Volvo steering system and the CCU through the CCU cable.
