Tylaska Fids & Dogbones
A dogbone is essentially a short structural rod that can be attached to the end of a line and used like a button or toggle to make a connection to another line, grommet or deck fitting. The dogbone is a very convenient way for attaching the halyard line to the headboard as you can maximize sail height without the added length of a conventional shackle. It also works well for jib and spinsheets, outhauls, the connection of soft loops used for attaching blocks to deck fittings, and numerous other rigging applications. Unlike a knot, the dogbone connection does not jam up under tension and can be quickly attached or detached.
Tylaska plug fids allow for remote release of trigger shackles. The fid is pushed into the trigger hole and the tapered rear of the fid allows the trigger to snap closed against and hold the fid in place. A lanyard can then be attached to either of two holes depending upon the desired location of remote release.
The Tylaska Knurled Fids are machined from solid aircraft 6061-T6 aluminum and knurled for a more secure grip. Available in three sizes, all handheld fids are anodized in a choice of either blue or red. The front taper fits all designated Tylaska shackles as well as many other brands. The rear thru hole allows easy attachment of a lanyard or wrist leash. An indispensable tool for a fast and safe release of lines under heavy load.
